Gambler loses, guns down opponent in Malabon
MANILA, Philippines - A man who had a losing streak in an illegal video karera game shot dead his opponent in Malabon City at past midnight yesterday.
Police identified the fatality as Michael Manangan, 30, a resident of Area 3, Phase 2 in Barangay Longos. He died from bullet wounds in the face and in the neck while on the way to the Malabon City community hospital.
The suspect, known only as “Perry,” escaped.
Police Officer 3 Edsel de la Paz said Manangan and the suspect were seen playing video karera (a type of computer game involving simulated horse races) at a house along Hiwa street in Barangay Longos at around midnight.
Witnesses told police that Perry became angry when he kept losing and Manangan, who was winning, teased him about being a loser. The suspect left and returned a few minutes later, armed with a handgun. He shot Manangan, then fled with the gun. He remains at large.
