Senate cop shoots boss for scolding him
MANILA, Philippines - A policeman shot his superior officer during formation in front of the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) barracks at the Senate complex in Pasay City yesterday morning.
Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta said when the police officers assigned at the Senate were in formation at around 11:30 a.m., Inspector Julius Alatraca scolded them about two missing M-16 rifles.
Police Officer 3 Fernando Macalindong reportedly became angry with the way he was confronted by Alatraca, and he drew his service firearm and shot Alatraca, who alleged that the suspect hid the weapon in the trunk of his car.
Alatraca was rushed to the Manila Adventist Medical Center, where he is undergoing observation.
Macalindong escaped and is now the subject of a manhunt. – Rhodina Villanueva, Christina Mendez
