Poor families receive Christmas goodies

MANILA, Philippines - Some 7,000 indigent families and senior citizens in Las Piñas City received bags filled with grocery items as Christmas gifts from the city government. The recent gift-giving was held at the Verdant covered court in Barangay Pamplona Tres. Mayor Vergel Aguilar said the giving out of noche buena package to needy families is a yearly tradition for them “to ensure that residents would have food on their table while celebrating Christmas.” He said the typhoons that hit the country should not stop them from continuing the gift-giving tradition since the people deserve to have something this Yuletide season.      – Rhodina Villanueva
