Caloocan to clamp down on banned firecrackers

-

MANILA, Philippines - Caloocan City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri yesterday ordered the city’s public safety officials to strictly enforce Republic Act 7183, which bans certain firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices from being used by the public.

Among the banned devices are piccolo, watusi or dancing firecracker, five-star, Kingkong, pla-pla and boga (improvised bazookas made from the polyvinyl chloride pipes).

Echiverri issued the warning for residents to take the necessary precautions to prevent fires and injuries arising from improper handling or use of defective, substandard pyrotechnic devices during the holiday season.    – Jerry Botial
