2 charged for stealing P.2-million seasonings

-

MANILA, Philippines - A driver and helper were charged with qualified theft yesterday for allegedly diverting P200,000 worth of seasonings and food products from a distributing company.

Suspects Michael Candido and Reynaldo Buño were implicated by a co-worker who told their employer of their alleged scheme, said Senior Police Officer 1 Mario Turiano.

Turiano said the management of Murphy Distributors Inc., which distributes the seasonings and food products from a manufacturer, found out on Saturday during an inventory that some of the supplies at its shop in Quezon City were missing.

The two suspects were arrested Monday afternoon. According to witnesses, the suspects would allegedly load on to the delivery vehicle excessive volumes of the products then sell them to their own buyers.

Turiano said products have been missing from the company’s inventory since June.        – Reinir Padua
