Dermatologist loses P2-million equipment to burglars
MANILA, Philippines - Burglars broke into a dermatologist’s clinic in Quezon City and stole at least P2 million worth of equipment over the weekend.
Police said secretary Jennifer Frenilla discovered the loss when she opened the Nelie T. Uy Clinic at around 1 p.m. Tuesday. The clinic is at the ground floor of the Imperial Palace Suite at the corner of Timog and Tomas Morato avenues.
Dermatologist Nicole Jennifer Yu, 33, told police that they lost a Harmony-Aria Intense Pulse machine worth P2 million and a Con-Med Centery hypercator machine amounting to P100,000.
Frenilla told police she was last person to leave the clinic at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and had the shop locked securely.
Police said the burglars could have picked the lock or used a false key, noting that there were no signs of forced entry into the shop, or the incident could have been an inside job since on duty guards claimed they did not notice anything suspicious while the clinic was closed. – Reinir Padua
