MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested a waiter for reportedly stabbing his wife when she confronted him for his alleged womanizing in Valenzuela City Monday night.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Ranier Idio said Giovanni Angeles, 25, a resident of Barangay Karuhatan, was charged with frustrated parricide for stabbing his 25-year-old wife, Joan. The victim is still undergoing treatment at the Valenzuela General Hospital.
Police Officer 1 Laerma Sarmiento, of the Valenzuela City police station women and children protection unit, said the incident occurred at the couple’s house at around 10:30 p.m. Witnesses told police that Joan, a mall employee, confronted Angeles as soon as he arrived for allegedly having an affair with another woman.
The couple’s argument turned physical and Angeles stabbed his wife, who fought back and was able to grab the knife and run out of their house.
Neighbors who saw the bloodied victim came to her assistance. Barangay watchmen Samuel Longco and Manuel Plazo brought her to the hospital.
Police from the nearby Police Community Precinct 9 arrested Angeles as he was about to flee. He was charged with frustrated parricide before the Valenzuela City prosecutor’s office with P200,000 bail recommended for his temporary freedom. – Pete Laude
