Woman found beaten to death; cops eye live-in partner

MANILA, Philippines - A woman was found dead inside a room she was renting in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City Friday night.

The body of Emeliza Banggo bore injuries that suggest she had been beaten to death, police said.

Homicide probers are looking into the possible involvement of her live-in partner, Francis delos Santos, who remains missing.

House caretaker Santiago Melgar said he discovered Banggo’s body Friday night.

Police Officer 1 Hermogenes Capili said the victim and her partner were heard arguing over Internet chatting a day before she was killed.

Probers are also looking into the angle that the victim and the person she was with at the time of her death had been drinking since beer bottles were found at the crime scene.      – Michael Punongbayan
