PDEA seizes 200 kilos of marijuana

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said yesterday its agents seized 200 kilos of dried marijuana leaves hidden in sacks and boxes of bananas transported from Cagayan province to a bus terminal in Quezon City.

PDEA agents also arrested Macario Sosa Guiang Jr., who was caught loading the sacks into a waiting taxicab; and taxi driver Marmilito Magno.

PDEA also invited for questioning the driver and conductor of the bus that transported the marijuana leaves, which were submitted to the PDEA laboratory for analysis.

Guiang and Magno are facing charges of possession and transport of dangerous drugs.      – Michael Punongbayan
