Caloocan strengthens children's protection council
MANILA, Philippines – The Caloocan City government has reorganized its committee tasked to promote children’s welfare to better protect the city’s children against abuses, exploitation and discrimination.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri said yesterday the issuance of Executive Order 19-09, effectively reorganizing the City Council for the Protection of Children, “allows for a stronger deterrence and special protection for children.”
He said there is a need to reorganize and update the composition of the CCPC to ensure the “active participation and availability” of its members.
The CCPC also provides assistance to children who suffered abuse to help them achieve justice.
Under the new set up, Echiverri remains as CCPC chairman with Councilor Nora Nubla as co-chair and Councilor Ma. Milagros Mercado as vice-chairperson. – Pete Laude
