NBI seizes P10-million computers, pirated software

-

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently seized some P10 million worth of personal computers, a laptop computer and unauthorized copies of AutoCAD software during a raid conducted in Makati City.

Lawyer Joel Tovera, executive officer of the NBI’s Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD), said the bureau raided the NBF Consulting office in Makati Cinema Square and the 3 Design+Asia Incorporation at the 6/F Salustinana D. Ty Tower last Oct. 29 after the software maker, Autodesk Inc. filed a complaint through the Bengzon Negre Untalan Intellectual Property Rights Attorneys office. Manila Regional Trial Court Judge Cielito Mindaro-Grulla issued the search warrants.

IPRD chief Dante Bonoan said the owners and operators of the two firms will be charged with copyright infringement.  – Sandy Araneta
