Pasig school gets donated books

-

MANILA, Philippines - Actors Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera led a youth foundation’s donation of 1,260 textbooks and school supplies to the Sixto Roxas Elementary School in Bambang, Pasig City.

Dantes, who founded the YesPinoy Foundation (YPF), said their donation of textbooks and school supplies would hopefully be the first of a series of schools their foundation will assist under their “Oplan Restore Paaralan.”

The YPF and their volunteers also reinforced the makeshift elevated wooden footbridge that was built by the school’s administration since the school is still submerged in floodwaters.

“I just hope that, through this humble beginning, other well-meaning groups will see the wisdom of our direction,” Dantes, who was an academic scholar at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Dantes was also joined in yesterday’s launch of “Oplan Restore Paaralan” by Quirino Gov. Dax Cua.

Dantes and the YPF was supported by National Bookstore and St. Mary’s Publishing Corp. in their donation of textbooks and school supplies.

Bedelia Alvez, the school’s acting principal, welcomed the donation of the YPF, and thanked Dantes for selecting her school to be the beneficiary of their project. – Rainier Allan Ronda
