MANILA, Philippines - A 44-year-old beach resort owner died after she allegedly jumped from her 15th floor condominium unit in Ermita, Manila yesterday morning.
Responding policemen discovered the body of Elena Flisi on the pavement in front of the Mayfair Tower at the corner of A. Mabini and U.N. Avenue at around 10:45 a.m. She died on the spot.
Elena, owner of a beach resort in Palawan, was married to an Italian national, Edo Flisi, 54, who arrived from Italy Wednesday night after vacationing in his country for a year. They had been married for 20 years, and have a 10-year-old daughter.
Elena’s older brother, Rodelio Maninang, who lives with his sister in the condominium unit told police his sister started acting strange following the death of their mother a week ago.
According to Alexander Dimailig, property manager of the Mayfair Tower, he talked with the victim a day before her alleged suicide and observed her acting strangely and telling incomprehensible stories.
Edo told police that he returned to the Philippines after he was informed that his wife had been acting strangely. However, he said he did not notice any strange behavior while they were talking the night before. Edo said he was about to leave the building on his motorcycle when he was told his wife had just jumped from their rented unit. – Nestor Etolle
