16-hour water cut-off in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - Some portions of Tondo and Sta. Cruz in Manila will experience a 16-hour water interruption beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday until 12 noon Monday.

Maynilad Water Services Inc. said in an advisory that it is upgrading its pipe network in Manila as part of its continuous effort to improve water services in the west zone.

Maynilad said the water service interruption is due to the replacement of 750-millimeter gate valve at the corner of Rizal Avenue and Old Antipolo street.

Areas that will have either no water or low water pressure are those bounded by Hermosa, Pilar, New Antipolo, Solis, Old Antipolo, Tayabas, Rizal Avenue, Dagupan Extension, Jose Abad Santos, Tayuman, G. Perfecto, the PNR track, Juan Luna, Moriones, Raxabago, Felix Huertas, Aurora Boulevard, Dimasalang, Tambunting areas, Blumentritt, Antipolo and Simoun streets.

Maynilad advised customers in areas affected by the water interruption to store enough water. Affected customers may call the Maynilad Hotline 1626 for updates and additional information.        – Nestor Etolle
