MANILA, Philippines - National Liga ng mga Barangay (LNB) president Ricojudge Echiverri urged barangay officials all over the country yesterday to attend a multi-agency summit on good governance, effective barangay administration, coordination and cooperation from Aug. 27 to 29 at the G Hotel along Roxas Boulevard in Manila.
Echiverri said the summit would be held during the LNB’s third national general assembly, which also aims to discuss programs and projects “geared toward creating a moving tide of support for local progress through the barangays.”
It would also tackle “good governance success stories which are worth replicating as models” and other issues surrounding the barangay league and its more than 42,000 members, he said.
Echiverri said it would also be an opportunity for barangay leaders to have a “face to face” talk with all invited 2010 presidential aspirants.
During the previous grand assembly, the LNB national executive board unanimously pushed for the implementation of Section 393 of the Local Government Code, which bestows additional benefits on barangay officials and their beneficiaries. –Pete Laude
