Family of 3 hurt as car lands in Manila Bay

-

MANILA, Philippines - A couple and their five-year-old son were injured when their vehicle went over the Wawa Bridge along Coastal Road in Las Piñas City yesterday morning and landed in the waters of Manila Bay.

An initial police report identified the victims as Jomar Zamudio; his wife, Lizette; and their son, Emmanuel, residents of Imus, Cavite.

Senior Police Officer 2 Domingo Blando said the victims are still being treated at the St. Dominic’s Hospital in Bacoor, Cavite after suffering minor injuries.

Police said Zamudio was driving their black Toyota Altis (ZJR-186) along the southbound lane of Coastal Road when he lost control of the vehicle after avoiding hitting a rock at around 9:40 a.m.

The car hit the railings of Wawa Bridge and went straight into the water.

Concerned citizens brought the Zamudios to the hospital. – Rhodina Villanueva
