MANILA, Philippines - A real estate broker was killed by at least two men as he came out of his alleged mistress’ house in Caloocan City yesterday morning.
Enrique Sacdalan suffered from a bullet that ripped through his cheeks, a stab wound in the right flank, and a skull fracture inflicted by a blunt object, according to Police Officer 1 Rhostom Ocampo.
Ocampo said the suspects made sure Sacdalan was dead when they left the crime scene.
Ocampo said they later arrested one of the suspects, welder Jonathan Rosco, 29, and a resident of Barangay 176, Bagong Silang. Rosco sustained a gunshot wound in the left foot as he tried to flee from pursuing lawmen.
Rosco and a still unidentified male companion ganged up on Sacdalan as he went out of the house of Eden Metrillo in Barangay 176 at around 6 a.m. to go home to his family in Greenfields Subdivision in Novaliches, Quezon City when three shots rang out.
Metrillo ran out of the house to see what happened and found Sacdalan lying face down on the pavement. She tried to revive the victim but failed.
Metrillo told police one of the suspects ran for safety to the house of Basilo Malate and his wife, Erlinda. Metrillo added that the Malates had a previous altercation with Sacdalan months earlier. Malate reportedly borrowed an electric drill from Sacdalan, who had a welding shop, two months ago but failed to return it.
Northern Police District Crime Laboratory team leader Chief Inspector Stella Ebuen said they found six .9mm bullets and a gun holster at the crime scene. It was not clear to whom the items belonged.
Ebuen said Sacdalan was already dead when the team arrived at the crime scene.
Ocampo told The STAR charges of murder are being readied against Rosco. He added that charges of robbery will be filed against the suspects after police discovered P6,000 was missing from his pocket.
Senior Superintendent Jude Santos, city police chief, said he has ordered a manhunt for the remaining suspect even as the charges are being readied. – Jerry Botial
