Ex-judge's son killed in Paco fire

-

MANILA, Philippines - A 56-year-old son of a retired judge was killed in an hour-long fire that gutted their house in Paco, Manila before dawn yesterday.

Rafael Pulido was sleeping in his room when a fire broke out at the second floor of their house on Burgos street at around 2:40 a.m., fire officials said.

When the fire was put out at around 3:35 a.m., Pulido’s body, burned beyond recognition, was found.

The victim was a son of retired judge Vicente Pulido, who was not at home when the incident happened, fire officials said.

Probers pegged the cost of the damaged property at P200,000. He said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire and if it was deliberately set. - Edu Punay
