Fire hits Pasig furniture shop

-

MANILA, Philippines - A fire believed caused by faulty electrical wiring broke out at a furniture shop in Pasig City yesterday, destroying property estimated at P5 million.

Nobody was hurt in the fire that hit the stockroom of the Fortune Smith Sales and Services in Barangay De la Paz at about 1:30 a.m.

The stockroom was where furniture-making materials like paint, thinner, rugby, foam, wood and carton were kept, said arson investigator FO1 Salvador Norberte.

The fire reached the fifth alarm. At least 37 firetrucks from Pasig City and neighboring cities responded to the fire that was placed under control two hours later.

Norberte said seven employees, including a security guard. were at the office when the fire broke out.

He said they are eyeing faulty electrical wiring as the cause of the fire. – Non Alquitran
