3 carjackers nabbed in Manila

-

MANILA, Philippines - Three suspected carjackers were arrested by the Manila police in a series of follow-up operations against criminal elements in the city.

District Intelligence Division chief Superintendent Ernesto Fojas Jr. identified the suspects as Daniel Dulay, 35, driver, of Pavia st., Tondo; Reynaldo Elumin, alias “Buknoy,” 21; and Benedict Franco, alias “Badik,” 23, both of Caloocan City. Dulay is the subject of a complaint filed by Feliza Sy, of Mapua st., Sta. Cruz over the loss of her maroon Nissan Sentra (UCD-880) which the former failed to return.

Upon his arrest, Dulay admitted pawning the car and used the money in the casino. Police recovered the car while parked along T.M. Kalaw street in Ermita, Manila.

Fojas said Elumin and Franco were allegedly responsible for a series of carjacking in Manila involving motorcycles. The two were arrested while reportedly driving a stolen red Kawasaki motorcycle (YS-8594) along Tayuman corner Severino Reyes streets in Sta. Cruz.

The series of follow-up operations were conducted by the anti-carnapping unit of the Manila Police District led by Senior Inspector Randy Maluyo. Fojas has directed an intensified drive against carnap gangs upon the directive of MPD director Chief Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay following the upsurge of carnap incidents in the city, mostly involving motorcycles.

Carnapping charges were filed against the three suspects.         – Nestor Etolle
