MANILA, Philippines - A laborer trying to woo back his estranged lover, abducted the woman’s six-year-old daughter Friday in Malabon City.
Reynaldo Macabante, 55 “said he abducted the girl for he only wanted to talk to her mother, his former live-in partner, to patch up their differences. He is not the girl’s biological father,” city police chief Senior Superintendent Roberto Villanueva told The STAR.
Villanueva said Macabante and the girl’s 34-year-old mother had been living together for some time but broke up recently due to “some misunderstanding.”
Macabante has been trying to woo back his ex-partner but the woman refused to reconcile with the suspect.
On Friday afternoon, Macabante waited for the woman’s daughter outside her school in Malabon City. He persuaded the girl to go with him.
When the woman arrived at the school to fetch her daughter, she failed to find the girl and sought the assistance of local police.
The following day, she received a text message from Macabante telling her that if she wanted to get her daughter back she must come and see him at his house in Bulacan.
The woman told Villanueva’s men, who rescued the girl in Meycauayan and arrested Macabante. – Pete Laude
