MANILA, Philippines - A drunken man stabbed dead a preacher after admonishing him for bullying a young boy Friday afternoon in Caloocan City.
Police said pastor Ariel Guevarra, 44, a resident of Barangay 166, Kaybiga, Caloocan City North, died of two stab wounds in the chest and one in the shoulder.
Guevarra was walking along the NPC Compound in Barangay 166 at around 5 p.m., when he saw Renato Tuayon, 26, intimidating a young boy causing the frightened child to run weeping.
Guevarra approached Tuayon, who was drunk and admonished him for upsetting the child.
But instead of listening to the pastor, Tuayon resented his preaching.
He pulled a knife and lunged at the preacher saying “pakialamero (you should not intervene).”
Police Officer 3 Noli Albis, Caloocan City police North Extension Office investigator, said Guevarra sustained two stab wounds in the left chest and one in the shoulder causing his instant death.
Tuayon escaped after the incident bringing with him the fatal weapon.
Police Officer 1 Ryan Rodriguez yesterday said a manhunt was launched for Tuayon’s arrest. – Pete Laude
