2 teens hurt in Makati gang shooting

MANILA, Philippines - Two teenage boys were shot by members of a rival gang in Makati City at dawn yesterday.

Police Officer 3 Sherwin Padua said Joefel Namoca, 16, suffered a gunshot wound in the stomach while Bobby Quilang, 18, was hit in the right forearm and hand. They were treated at the Ospital ng Makati.

The victims said they had just visited a friend along C-5 Road in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City and were on their way home in a tricycle when they were shot at along Maya street in Barangay Rizal at around 1:30 a.m.

The suspects, one of whom was identified only as “Mata,” escaped after the shooting.

Makati Detective Bureau head, Chief Inspector Dennis Macalintal, immediately ordered follow up operations after receiving information that the area has been the site of attacks among rival teenage gangs. – Jose Rodel Clapano
