Swiss commits suicide

MANILA, Philippines – A Swiss national reportedly committed suicide at the house of his live-in partner in Navotas City Tuesday.

Police Officer 3 Resty Castillo, of the Navotas City police, said the remains of 41-year-old Carl Huppin was brought to Thaddean funeral homes for autopsy. “The local police have already informed the Swiss embassy of the incident and we are just waiting for the victim’s kin for us to conduct examination on the body,” Castillo told The STAR.

Investigation showed that Huppin’s live-in partner Akira Alminiana, 20, a resident of Barangay San Jose in Navotas told the police that she was awakened with the victim’s moaning at around 4 a.m. When Alminiana checked on the victim she reportedly found out he has rashes all over his body. Alminiana brought the victim to the local clinic for treatment but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

“Based on Alminiana’s account the victim could have committed suicide by taking too much sleeping pills and that’s what we will determine once we could conduct an autopsy on the victim’s body,” Castillo said. The police also failed to recover any sleeping pills from the victim’s room, Castillo said. – Pete Laude
