MANILA, Philippines - An immigration agent was killed by two armed men who drove off with his sport utility vehicle parked outside his house in Quezon City early yesterday.
Douglas Duane Lim, 34, was dead on arrival at Capitol Medical Center due to gunshot wounds he sustained from the incident. He lost his green Ford Expedition (XCS-568) to the two suspects.
Initial investigation shows that the suspects were after the SUV owned by Lim, who worked as a special agent at the Bureau of Immigration.
Police Officer 3 Jaime Jimena said the incident happened at past 1 a.m. yesterday outside the victim’s house in Barangay Bahay Toro.
Lim’s brother, Dennis, told police he was sleeping when he heard gunshots from outside the house.
He went out and saw two men trying to take the SUV. He tried to fight them, but one pointed a handgun at him. The suspects then drove off.
He then saw his brother, whose body was riddled with gunshot wounds. He and other family members brought the victim to the hospital.
Based on the slugs recovered from the crime scene, Jimena said the suspects used a .9mm revolver. – Reinir Padua
