1 dead, 1 hurt as laborers, tricycle drivers clash in Navotas
MANILA, Philippines - A laborer died while his companion was wounded when the victims’ group engaged at least five tricycle drivers in a street fight in Navotas City early yesterday.
Police identified the fatality as Rick Sison, a resident of Barangay Hulong Duhat in Malabon City. His fellow worker, Raymund Propeta, 28, also of Hulong Duhat, is confined at the Dr. Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
“Sison died on the spot with at least five stab wounds, mostly in the chest. We rushed Propeta to the hospital with a knife still embedded in his face,” chairman Totie Ocampo of Barangay San Roque, Navotas, told The STAR.
Investigation showed that a melee occurred just outside the Let’s Disco KTV Bar along Leongson street in Barangay San Roque at around 3:30 a.m.
The victims, with companion Reynaldo Carpio, came out from the Let’s Disco bar and for no apparent reason, confronted a group of tricycle drivers in the area.
“The suspects and the victims were all drunk,” Ocampo said. Though Sison and Propeta suffered stab wounds, Carpio was unharmed.
