Burglars take P.3-million computers from Navotas councilor's shop

MANILA, Philippines - At least four thieves ransacked a computer shop owned by a city councilor in Navotas and fled with more than P300,000 worth of computer sets Wednesday.

Police Officer 1 Jorge Reyes said yesterday they were still trying to identify the four men who burglarized Councilor Gerardo Santiago’s Surfing Hub computer shop on M. Naval street.

“A single witness who surfaced at the station had a change of heart when asked to described the thieves to our artist for their sketches. He backed off,” Reyes told The STAR.

Investigation showed that at around 2 a.m., a brown Ford Fierra parked in front of the computer shop, and four suspects entered the shop by destroying the four padlocks on the door.

The suspects took 15 computer sets and P570 in a drawer of the cashier’s table.

Reyes said witnesses were not able to jot down the car’s license plate number, “but we are still investigating.” – Pete Laude
