Car volume increases on C-5 Road

MANILA, Philippines - The motor vehicles volume along the Kalayaan C-5 Road in Makati City had increased because of the recently opened elevated U-Turn in the area, the Metro Manila Development Authority reported yesterday.

MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando said from the previous 120,000 vehicles recorded daily in the area, more than 150,000 vehicles now use the thoroughfare.

“This means that we decreased by an estimated 30,000 vehicles (the volume of vehicles) in EDSA,” he said.

The elevated U-Turn along Kalayaan C-5 Road was opened early this month to unclog the large volume of vehicles using the already congested EDSA.

Fernando projected that the government and motorists will be able to save around P2.5 billion a year from fuel consumption due to the quicker flow of traffic in the area. – Dennis Carcamo
