MANILA, Philippines – Lawyer Elpidio Soriano III, representing the Greater Manila Region, was elected executive vice president (EVP) of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).
In an election held at the boardroom of the IBP national office in Ortigas, Pasig City, Soriano garnered six votes from his fellow members of the incoming board of governors.
Soriano was a former director, auditor, treasurer, and president of the IBP Quezon City chapter; former managing editor of the IBP Law Journal and currently a Commissioner for Bar Discipline, a post he has been holding for the past six years.
A litigator for 15 years, his law firm is engaged in a variety of fields including public service laws, telecommunications, commercial laws, election law, and civil, criminal, labor and corporate litigation, among others. He has received the IBP Presidential Plaque of Merit twice, and an Outstanding Service Award.
Presiding over the election was current EVP Rogelio Vinluan, who is set to assume the national presidency of the IBP at the end of the incumbent board of governors’ term on June 30. – Perseus Echeminada
