Caloocan reactivates disaster council
MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government reactivated Saturday its calamity and disaster council in preparation for any emergencies brought about by weather disturbances.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri said concerned local agencies and offices have been clustered into teams to facilitate rescue and relief operations.
Echiverri said residents may contact the city’s communications and warning operations team for early warnings: the public information office at 324-4644; community relations office at 288-8811 local 2254; urban poor affairs office at 324-4722; and the office of Councilor Nora Nubla at 324-5008.
For rescue services, residents could directly coordinate with the city department of public safety and traffic management at 323-5742 and the local rescue group at 288-8811 local 2295.
Residents with questions about relief operations may call the city social welfare department at 324-5085 and the city engineer’s office at 324-5416. For health matters, residents could contact the city health department at 288-8811 local 2287.
The national Liga ng mga Barangay, headed by Caloocan City Councilor Ricojudge Echiverri, also said residents may call 324-5299 for relief and rescue services during disasters and emergencies. – Pete Laude
