Fire razes 3 bars in Quezon City

-

MANILA, Philippines – Some P5 million worth of properties were destroyed in a fire that hit a row of bars along Timog Avenue in Quezon City Thursday night.

City Fire Marshall Senior Superintendent Bobby Baruelo said no customer was hurt in the fire, but volunteer firefighter Martin Aguda sustained a burn on his hand.

“It broke out from the back of the establishments and because of that, it was easy for the customers to get out through the main doors in front of the bars,” Baruelo said in an interview.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Fortunato Alde said the fire started at 11 p.m. and gutted the South Avenue Bliss, Makisig Bar and Club 1 Heat bars before it was put out at 12:36 a.m.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire since operators of the three bars were blaming each other. – Reinir Padua
