NBI nabs school drug trafficking suspect

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau Investigation (NBI) arrested last week a suspected drug trafficker and seized an undetermined amount of marijuana during a raid in Mandaluyong City, the bureau reported yesterday.

NBI Reaction, Arrest and Interdiction Division (RAID) head Roel Bolivar identified the suspect as Miguel Alberto, alias Migoy, who resides at the City Land Pioneer Condominium building.

Alberto was charged with violating Sections 11, 12 and 15 of Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 (the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) before the Department of Justice. He is currently detained at the NBI jail.

In their report, the NBI said they received and confirmed information that Alberto was allegedly involved in distributing marijuana to several exclusive schools in Metro Manila.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Maria Cancino-Erum, the NBI raided Alberto’s residence and confiscated two bundles of dried marijuana leaves, marijuana joints, a weighing scale, a pipe and other drug paraphernalia. – Sandy Araneta
