Cop killed in Pasay

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman assigned with the Police Security and Protection Office (PSPO) in Camp Crame was shot dead in Pasay City yesterday morning.

Investigators identified the victim as Police Officer 3 Joey Gallo, 31, a resident of Barangay 111 Zone 12, Pasay City.

Initial investigation showed Gallo was on his way to Camp Crame when he stopped at a neighborhood store on Celeridad street at about 8:15 a.m. and talked to a friend.

Investigators said while he was talking to his friend, an unidentified man shooed away Gallo’s friend and started talking to the victim.

Moments later, the suspect and Gallo were engaged in an argument. When bystanders were about to intervene, the suspect drew a .9mm pistol and shot Gallo repeatedly before fleeing.

Homicide investigators are still determining the motive behind the shooting. – Mike Frialde
