3 Malabon robbery suspects arrested

MANILA, Philippines - Three men were arrested after they allegedly robbed a fish trader of cash and valuables Wednesday in Malabon City.

Police identified the suspects as Eduardo Asis, and Ricky Pajarito, both residents of Barangay Tonsuya in Malabon, and Rey Anthony Gonzales of Valenzuela City.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Roberto Villanueva said victim Rexie Pangilinan was walking along MacArthur Highway near her home in Barangay Potrero at around 1 a.m. when the suspects took her bag – which contained P1,300, a cell phone, her identification cards and other important documents – at knifepoint before fleeing on foot.

The victim, accompanied by a friend, reported the incident to Police Community Precinct 2 in the area. On their way home, the victim saw the three suspects at a waiting shed along the highway. They went back to PCP 2 for assistance.

Police arrested the three suspects but failed to recover Pangilinan’s bag and its contents.The suspects were charged with robbery before the Malabon City prosecutor’s office. – Pete Laude
