5-car smashup stalls traffic in SLEX

-

MANILA, Philippines - An accident involving five vehicles caused traffic to slow down on the southbound lane of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Muntinlupa City yesterday morning.

Police Officer 1 Richard Sisneros said the accident happened at around 9:40 a.m. in front of the Amkor Annam factory.

Investigation showed the Mitsubishi L300 van (XRX-116) driven by Rendell Ramirez, 23, was cruising along SLEX when it rear-ended a Toyota Corolla (WDF-801) driven by Euphemio Balbin Jr., 21.

The Corolla, in turn, bumped into a Mitsubishi Canter (UGK-519) driven by Aida Rols, 23. The Canter hit the rear of a Toyota Rav 4 (WRG-260) driven by Ariel Barcelon, 37.

Barcelon’s vehicle then slammed into another Mitsubishi L300 van, driven by Marcelo Calatin, 38.

The smashup stalled traffic from the Alabang exit in Muntinlupa to the Bicutan exit in Taguig City.

No one was reported injured in the accident.        – Rhodina Villanueva
