Mechanic slain for 'rescuing' GRO
MANILA, Philippines - A printing press mechanic was shot dead with his own gun when he tried to come to the rescue of a guest relations officer (GRO) who was being harassed by four customers in a Quezon City bar at past midnight yesterday.
The four customers allegedly disarmed and shot Christopher Senas, 38, with his own .45 caliber pistol at the second floor of the MNF KTV and Kitchenette in Barangay Old Balara at around 1 a.m.
Police arrested two of the suspects – Joden Nunez, 32, and Jessie Gon-Gon – while Elmer de Jesus, alias Amid; and Jay Ramos, alias Agi, escaped with Senas’ gun.
Senas and his girlfriend, Leonor Duran, who works as a GRO at the KTV bar, were reportedly resting in the bar’s dressing room after consuming several bottles of beer when “Jen,” another GRO, came in and complained about being harassed by the suspects.
Police said Senas went outside and told the suspects to refrain from harassing Jen. This resulted in a heated argument, prompting Senas to draw his gun and fire a warning shot. The suspects, however, did not shrink back but attacked him instead.
Nunez allegedly grabbed the gun and shot Senas several times in different parts of the body.
Police said Nunez then passed the gun to Ramos and de Jesus, who escaped, while he and Gon-Gon were arrested by concerned citizens who brought them to barangay hall.
Senas was rushed to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center but was declared dead upon arrival at around 1:30 a.m.
