MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested last Monday four alleged members of the Sigue-Sigue Sputnik Gang for killing a college student and wounding his friend in Caloocan City.
In a press conference held at the NBI headquarters yesterday, NBI Special Task Force (STF) chief Head Agent Arnel Dalumpines said charges of murder and frustrated murder were filed before the Department of Justice against Edmond Diamante, 28, alias Emon; Jefferson Rallos, 22; Resty de la Cruz, 25; and a 17-year-old boy.
The four suspects, heavily tattooed with the gang’s symbols, are detained at the NBI jail at the headquarters in Manila.
The NBI also launched a manhunt against two other suspects, reportedly also members of the gang, identified as Nobert Sioson, alias Nitog; and a certain alias Junar.
According to the NBI, the six suspects blocked the path of victims Allan Jay Borrico, 17; Cerelo Carcellar, 19; and their friends Lotchita Solayao, Jaycel Ingente and Teresita Gamas as they were on their way to a bus terminal in Caloocan City on March 15.
The suspects beat up the victims and their friends, who ran for safety and sought the assistance of barangay watchmen. The suspects cornered and repeatedly stabbed Borrico and Carcellar.
Borrico, a high school valedictorian and a first-year engineering student at Feati University, died while undergoing treatment at the Tondo General Hospital.
Carcellar, who survived the attack, was treated at the same hospital.
The suspects were arrested the following day at their respective houses in Navotas City. Witnesses identified the four suspects as the ones who stabbed and beat up the two victims.
