American national found dead in apartelle

-

MANILA, Philippines - A 53-year-old American tourist was found dead inside his room at a Makati City apartelle early yesterday morning.

Makati City police identified the victim as Mark Miller, 53, a native of New York City.

Initial investigation showed that Miller was found dead inside Room 11 of the Bridgeview Apartelle near J.P. Rizal street at about 1:42 a.m. It was the apartelle’s roomboys who called for police assistance after hearing a disturbance inside the victim’s room.

Makati City police chief Senior Superintendent Cedric Train said investigators are looking at the angle that the victim could have died of natural causes, possibly from a heart attack.

According to Train, police is also ruling out robbery in the incident as the victim’s valuables and passport were all found intact. Train also said that the US embassy was already informed of Miller’s death.

Train however added that police will still continue with its investigation of the incident and is not yet ready to rule out foul play. – Mike Frialde
