MANILA, Philippines - A policeman allegedly shot and critically wounded his neighbor he accused of stoning his house before midnight Tuesday in Caloocan City.
Police Officer 2 Jerry Gamueda, a night duty policeman assigned at Police Community Precinct-12 of the Caloocan City police Sub-station 3 went into hiding after the incident.
“I haven’t heard of him yet,” Police Officer 1 Gilbert Rastado, Gamueda’s colleague at PCP-12, told The STAR. Rastado said the investigation of Gamueda’s case was still ongoing yesterday. He declined to give details about the incident.
Gamueda’s immediate officer, Senior Inspector Rogelio Batara, was also out of his office.
Jeffrey Buban, 21, Gamueda’s neighbor on Phase 7 in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City North, was reportedly passing by the cop’s house at around 11 p.m. with his girlfriend when somebody stoned the cop’s house. Gamueda rushed out armed with a handgun.
The policeman immediately accosted Buban accusing him of allegedly stoning his house. During their confrontation Gamueda reportedly shot Buban once in the chest. Gamueda fled after the incident bringing with him his handgun while Buban was brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment and remained in serious condition.
Police Officer 2 Nelson Dapapac, of the Caloocan City police North Extension Office, which has direct supervision over Sub-station 3, said their men in the field were still hunting down Gamueda. – Pete Laude
