-

MANILA, Philippines - Police officers from the Southern Police District (SPD) arrested Wednesday a retired policeman and a jobless man for allegedly illegally selling firearms in Parañaque City.

Superintendent Eleazar Matta, SPD public information office chief, said retired policeman Antonio Valenzuela, 67, and Jay Yee Songco, 25, were apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Valenzuela’s house in Better Living Subdivision.

Valenzuela used to be with the legal office of the Philippine National Police.

Senior Superintendent Ronald Estilles, also of DMF, said they found out that Valenzuela is not authorized to sell firearms.

Police seized one KG9 9mm Luger, a .38 caliber handgun, a .22 handgun, two KG9 magazines, and two silencers.

Charges of illegal possession of firearms were filed against Valenzuela and Songco, who are detained at the SPD headquarters. – Rhodina Villanueva
