Pasay engineers clear Star City in man's death

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Pasay City Engineering Office said yesterday they found the Star City ride from which a man fell to his death Saturday to be free of any mechanical problems.

“Our initial finding showed that the Star City management is not at fault for what had happened. If the ride or any of its components are really defective then all of those who tried the said ride should have fallen victim also, just like Peña,” City Engineer Edwin Javaluyas said.

Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta said they will wait for the city engineering office’s official report, which will include the engineers’ recommendations on the Star Flyer ride.

He said they ruled out suicide since the sister of the victim, Carmelito Peña, 39, said she is not aware of any serious problems her brother may have had. Peña was a stay-in cook at an eatery along F.B. Harrison street.

An initial police report stated parts of the Star Flyer ride came loose, causing the victim to fall to the ground. – Rhodina Villanueva
