2 brothers killed in motorbike mishap

MANILA, Philippines - Two brothers died when the motorcycle they were riding accidentally hit an electric post in Valenzuela City before dawn yesterday.

Nelson Carredo, 31, his younger brother Dennis, 27, were declared dead on arrival at the Valenzuela City General Hospital due to severe head and body injuries at around 2:30 a.m.

Police said the brothers were on their way home when Nelson lost control of the Suzuki motorcycle he was driving and hit an electric post along Gen. T. de Leon Highway.

Another motorcyclist, Ricky Caneza, 31, swerved to avoid the victims and fell from his Yamaha motorcycle. He sustained serious head injuries.

Patrolling barangay watchmen came to the victims’ rescue and brought them to the Valenzuela City General Hospital for treatment but the brothers died along the way. Caneza remains confined in the hospital as of yesterday.    – Pete Laude
