Man dies after fall from Star City ride

MANILA, Philippines - A 30-year-old man died after he fell from a ride at the Star City complex in Pasay City yesterday afternoon.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta said Star City's security personnel rushed Lito Peña to the San Juan de Dios Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival.

He said that at about 4 p.m., Peña fell to the ground as the lock of a seat on the Star Flyer ride “gave way.”

“We advised the management to temporarily stop all rides for double-checking,” Petrasanta said.

He said Star City's operation officer told him that they will foot the expenses for the victim, a student from Binangonan, Rizal.

Police have yet to ask the victim's family if they will file charges. – Rhodina Villanueva
