Passenger kills bus robbery suspect

A robbery suspect was shot dead by an unidentified passenger after he staged a heist in a bus along EDSA in Pasay City shortly after noon yesterday.

Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta identified the suspect as Arnelito Candaza, a resident of E. Rodriguez Extension in Pasay.

Initial investigation showed that at about 12:15 p.m., Candaza and his five cohorts flagged down a Southern City Lines bus at the corner of EDSA and C. Jose Extension, got inside, and robbed the passengers.

The robbery suspects alighted when the bus reached the corner of EDSA and E. Rodriguez Extension. However, an unidentified male passenger shot at Candaza, killing him on the spot. Candaza’s cohorts escaped.

Petrasanta said that they are conducting a follow-up investigation on the incident. – Rhodina Villanueva
