Addict son kills father in Antipolo City

Police arrested yesterday a 22-year-old jobless man hours after killing his drunken father by hitting him with a hammer in the head before hacking him with a bolo in the neck in Antipolo City.

The suspect, John Aerol Camposano, did not resist arrest. He admitted killing his 43-year-old father, Eligio Camposano, a resident of Sitio Pandayan, Barangay Inarawan.

Police said the elder Camposano was drunk and had been sitting beside his house when the suspect, who was wearing gloves in both hands approached him from behind and struck him several times in the head with a hammer. When the victim fell on the ground bleeding, the suspect grabbed his feet and dragged him to a vacant lot where he hacked his father in the neck.

After making sure that his father was dead, the suspect changed clothes and left the family residence. Relatives discovered the victim’s lifeless body.

A witness reported that the addict son was the culprit in the slaying prompting authorities to hunt down the suspect.

Pretending to be the “girlfriend” of the suspect, a brother texted John Aerol and arranged a meeting at an area in Antipolo City where the suspect was arrested. – Non Alquitran
