Actor Philip Salvador and the bus driver he beat up at the height of a traffic altercation along EDSA last Wednesday have settled their differences.
Senior Superintendent Carlos de Sagun, Mandaluyong City police chief, said Salvador even hired Michael Baino, 31, as his family driver when he learned that Baino was only paid P400 for driving an Everlasting Bus unit every other day.
Salvador also offered livelihood assistance to Baino’s wife, a garbage collector at the Payatas dumpsite in Quezon City.
“The meeting ended with both sides happy and contented. The actor and the complainant even embraced before leaving my office,” De Sagun said in an interview.
Sagun said Salvador and Baino appeared at his office at 10 a.m. yesterday, and “apologized to each other” after talking for about an hour.
Satisfied with Salvador’s apology, Baino executed an affidavit of desistance, prompting the local police to shelve the unjust vexation and physical injuries set to be filed against the actor.
On Wednesday, Baino complained that Salvador beat him up at the height of a traffic altercation along EDSA.
Baino said he sustained bruises and contusions on his head because of the incident. – Non Alquitran
