Police are set to file highway robbery charges against three men who allegedly intercepted a van loaded with P1 million worth of Playstation accessories; P389,000; and a check worth P600,000 along C-5 Road in Taguig City Monday.
Senior Superintendent Camilo Cascolan, Taguig Police chief, said a police team apprehended the suspects somewhere in Blumentritt, Manila yesterday morning.
Among those under police custody was the driver of the L-300 van (ZLN-229), identified as Jesus Lihaylihay, an employee of Bismay Inc.
Cascolan said the police consider Lihaylihay an accessory to the crime since he reportedly collaborated with the two other suspects — Jose Javier, 35; and Venancio Villanueva, 47. Another suspect, a certain Goyong, escaped and is still being hunted by policemen.
Initial investigation showed that shortly before noon Monday, the van was on its way to deliver the accessories to a shop in Mandaluyong City when Javier, Villanueva and companion flagged down the vehicle and declared a heist.
Cascolan said they are still trying to find the van and the fourth suspect who escaped.
