Aunt uses 7-year-old niece as drug courier
Police recovered five sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu hidden in the underwear of a seven-year-old girl reportedly used by her aunt as a drug courier during a sting operation at a mall in Malabon City Sunday night.
Senior Inspector Arnel Dimalanta, Malabon City police Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group chief, said a safety pin secured the sachets on the left side of the girl’s underwear.
“It’s high-grade shabu with a street value of around P10,000,” Dimalanta told The STAR.
Dimalanta said that at around 10 a.m., the Malabon City police anti-narcotics agents conducted a “test-buy” with alleged pusher Twiggy Vibar, 24, near her house in Sangandaan, Caloocan City for P2,500 worth of shabu.
Malabon City police officers then lured Vibar to their jurisdiction by ordering P10,000 more of the illegal drug. The deal was supposed to take place at about 9:30 p.m. at the women’s comfort room of a mall in Malabon.
Vibar arrived as agreed with her seven-year-old niece and her four-year-old daughter in tow, Dimalanta said. She immediately sensed the presence of police officers and tried to escape.
Dimalanta said Vibar and the children were brought to the Malabon City police station but she yielded no shabu. Police officers also searched the two children and found the sachets of shabu, about a fourth of a gram, in the underwear of Vibar’s niece.
Police were set to file charges against Vibar yesterday. The two children were released to the custody of their kin, Dimalanta said.
