Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim ordered yesterday the arrest of a Manila policeman who allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl while she was in jail.
In her complaint to Lim, the girl accused Police Officer 3 Ronald Baldonado of raping her in a cell at Manila Police District Station 5 on United Nations Avenue. She also accused Police Officer 3 Ruel Young of extorting P5,000 from her so she could be released from jail.
Baldonado and Young, both assigned at Station 5, have yet to be questioned by the police regarding the girl’s allegations.
Lim ordered Station 5 commander Superintendent Rogelio Rosales to remain in his office at City Hall until the two suspects surface and face questioning by police investigators.
Investigations showed the girl rented out their home in Intramuros, Manila for P1,000 to five men for a pot session last week. Her mother was not at home at that time.
Barangay authorities arrested the girl after receiving information about the pot session and turned her over to Station 5, where she was jailed. After the girl was release from jail, she went to a radio station and asked for help to be able to talk to Lim. – Sandy Araneta
