OFW's luggage causes panic in convenience store

-

Panic gripped a convenient store in Quezon City Friday night because of a luggage that was apparently left by an overseas Filipino worker.

A bomb squad from the Quezon City Police District cordoned off the perimeter of the 7-11 store at the corner of Commonwealth Ave. corner Tandang Sora Ave. after receiving a call at 7:45 p.m. about a traveling bag left in front of the store’s door.

Inspector Arnulfo Franco, chief of QCPD Explosives and Ordnance Division, said the abandoned bag contained clothing, documents, a cell phone, and some foreign currency.

Franco identified the owner as Jeraleen Lansita, based on the identification and documents found inside the bag. “We got her contact number. We’ve been trying to call her but we haven’t got any answer so far. Anyway, we will just keep the bag in our headquarters in Camp Karingal – just like what we did in similar cases – and we’ll try to contact the owner again,” he said.   – Edu Punay
